Expected frequency predicts how many times an outcome should occur over many trials, as probability × number of trials, and compares expected with observed frequencies. It's a core topic in GCSE and iGCSE Maths with Edexcel and the other major boards. Multiply the probability by the number of trials. The answer is what you would expect on average, so it need not be a whole number, and the actual result will vary around it.

What you learn
Expected frequency predicts how many times an event should happen over a number of trials — using the probability and the number of trials. It’s a prediction — the actual count is usually a little different. A relative frequency from a sample can be used to predict for a larger number, in exactly the same way.
